On June 29, 2022, Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA) co-organized the Belt & Road Initiative Session of the Astana Finance Days 2022 with the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE), with the topic of “The Impetus of Offshore RMB Market on Kazakhstan’s Economy”. The chairman of Brillink Bank Mr.Zhang Chunhua, Vice chairman Mr. John Lam, and CEO Ms. Elizabeth Chung, have attended the forum.

Dr. Kairat Kelimbetov (Governor, AIFC) and Wang Yanzhi (President, Silk Road Fund) delivered the keynote speeches. Yernur Rysmagambetov (Chairman of the Management Board of AIFC Authority) gave the welcome remarks. Sultan Akimbekov (Director, The Institute of Asian Studies), Liu Ti (Executive Vice President, SSE), Dr. Cheng Daming (Managing Director, Member of IBD Business Development Committee, CICC), Nie Lei (Managing Director, Global Investment Banking Committee, CITIC Securities), Li Xiang (Deputy General Manager, International Business, CCB), Elizabeth Chung (CEO & Director, Brillink Bank) delivered roundtable speeches on the topic of “Usage of RMB on economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and China: Opportunities and Challenges”. Barry Chan (Managing Director, CICC HK) presided over the forum.

Witnessed by the guests, Mr. Zhang Chunhua, Chairman of Brillink Bank, and Mr. Wang Songhua, President of China Construction Bank Astana Branch, signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement on inter-bank cooperation. The parties will cooperate in promoting the Internationalization of RMB and supply chain finance in the future.

More than 50 representatives from Securities Association of China, Insurance Association of China, The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, The Macau Association of Banks, China Construction Bank, Asia Digital Bank, China Galaxy Securities, China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, PwC, China UnionPay and other members of the AFCA Belt and Road Financial Cooperation Committee and related institutions were organized by AFCA to participate in the forum.
